Deception Strike - building a Threat Intelligence Platform
What an amazing journey though
- Deception Strike is an ongoing ambition today. I started back in late 2020 as a result of unlimited hours of confinement during the coronavirus pandemic.
- I was testing several enterprise EDR product against each other by exposing them to the open threats of the internet and dark web. I noticed the information (threat intelligence) I was obtaining could be turned into a business. So I gave it a go.
- I completely developed all aspects of the business. From creating the product (technically speaking putting together a number of endpoint and network open source components in a balanced/harmonized manner) find the niche, develop the value proposition for customers, attend to international exhibitions (flying engineers with me) create and deliver presentations for investor to obtain capital etc.
- The result is we invented a completely brand new space of cyber deception, I learned a lot. Today I’m trying to find more capital, I have burned my own.
- I had to do all aspects from finding the commercial name (Deception Strike), hired logo designers to help me with stuff I understand but didnt have time to do, find the web designers etc. We even host our own word-press server site.
- I head hunted, hired and trained the team ( cybersecurity analysts) on very tight budget / own money / created every thing from completely scratch (record myself in videos in youtube explaining how to conduct threat hunting with the new tool) develop the procedures to escale up the volume of 8 world wide sensors, create sales strategies, develop them, marketing, product, etc etc.
- I have learned a lot, but I still need the final go to make this product successful (from a monetary and business perspective, to be able to hire people and allow them to develop a career within Deception Strike). From a personal/self point of view it has already delivered the value.
